My name is Steve. I’m a 25 year old college grad from the Midwest. I moved to Texas to finish up a degree and these are the stories from that experience. Hahaha! You made me laugh this morning. I have friends who enjoy Austin’s ambience and one that lives outside of DFW. She finds it more sane than California. Here you have the flippin opposite, but that same old s#”t. Slave wages, union control, bankruptcy and micro-managing are everywhere to be seen. The Pacific Coast has been shifted to the left. This is not what I grew up with and I feel it has been hijacked. So, I sympathize with you, but my sympathy is inverse, or perverse, to yours. Can’t people just get back to normal?!
I’m back in Ohio now, so a bit more of a moderate state I suppose. I’m glad you got a laugh out of it, I appreciate that you can read it with the humor intended (some get downright defensive over my piddly observations!) – I agree though, I wish we could all just mellow out a bit and regain some sanity!
It sounds like Hell and Ohio are freezing over while we suffer in flip-flops with 80º weather… and epic drought!
I worked with a couple of bonafide Texans. I could understand Bush Jr’s approach to rounding us up and corralling us in order to do what was right for us (more so for his neo-concrats, than for us). The guys I knew had the same mindset, but with personality quirks that would drive you crazy!
It’s amazing how much the oil industry has influenced America, all the way back to the Robber Barons. First, it was the fields of the Northeast, then it was California, Texas, then Alaska. Now, it’s Canada and the pipeline and all the petrochemicals that go with it (e.g. Monsanto, Dow, et al).
Lincoln warned us about the industrial complex before he was silenced. Kennedy was on the cusp of big changes for big business and then they silenced him and his brother. Where? DFW and California. It’s way out of control, now, though.
Barry has just taken it a step closer. This time, Alinsky is getting the last laugh. Dark humor…
